HIGHLY-RATED striker Adam Boyd shrugged off his nightmare year at Luton Town by smashing 17 goals for the O's in his first season with the club.

The O's secured themselves a bargain when they took Boyd on a free from the Hatters after his Kenilworth Road contract was cancelled by mutual consent just 12 months after a £500,000 move from Hartlepool United.

Boyd, who possesses a deadly reputation at League One level following his goalscoring exploits for Hartlepool, wasted little time in showing O's fans his talents, scoring a spectacular dipping volley against West Ham in his first match in Orient colours, and then going on to find the net on a regular basis during the season.

Boyd began his career with hometown club Hartlepool United, where he made 144 league appearances (55 as a substitute) and scored 53 goals.

He shot to prominence with 29 goals in the 2004/05 season and left for Championship football at Luton a year later.

However, Boyd found starting opportunities at a premium at Kenilworth Road and he was glad for a change of luck in E10.
