Ling - We Weren't Scintillating
MARTIN LING was satisfied with the way his side overcame a difficult journey to Aldershot Town on Saturday with a 1-0 victory.
The O's weren't at their best at the Recreation Ground, but Ling was happy with the workout.
He said: "First half they were the better side and in the second half we controlled it without really hurting them.
"I don't want to make excuses for the players but it was a hot day out there and we spent three hours in our cars getting here - everything pre-game wasn't right.
"We weren't scintillating, but I'm pleased with a 1-0 win without any major injuries.
"We had a bit of energy about us with the youngsters on the pitch in the second half and that's what created the goal.
"Solomon Shields and Loick Pires have been effective all pre-season and these matches are a great learning curve for them."
