ORIENT assistant manager Dean Smith praised the attitude of his young reserve team, despite their defeat to Charlton on Monday night.

The O's have now lost their last four Pontin's Holidays Combination outings, but Smith felt they gave a good account of themselves against the Championship club.

Smith's side utilised the same 4-3-3 formation as the first team and the assistant manager has praise for his midfield trio.

He said: "The attitude was spot on, and although Charlton edged the game, they didn't cut us open too often.

"Sean and JJ did well in midfield and we came close to getting something out of the game.

"We recovered from a poor start to equalise quickly, but Charlton were on top in the second half and they won it with two late goals."
