Title Hopes Go Up In Smoke
Queens Park Rangers 3 - 2 Leyton Orient
Puma Youth Alliance South East Conference
THE youth team's title hopes were ended by top-of-the-table Queens Park Rangers when the west Londoners edged a five-goal thriller.
An excellent game between two good sides looked set to end all square, but Rangers scored with a late penalty to grab all three points.
An evenly-balanced first half ended with the scoresheet blank, but it only took ten second half minutes for the home side to take the lead.
Danny Maguire's through ball found Antonio German, who made no mistake to give the R's the advantage.
Orient hit back immediately, though, with the home side's Josh Ford headed into his own net.
The see-saw nature of the second half continued and Rangers found themselves in front again with 65 minutes on the clock. This time Danny Fernandez managed to find space in the box to fire home.
Orient weren't about to lie down and accept defeat and they levelled for a second time when sub Jake Argent scored from the spot.
However the hosts' Billy Coyne scored a penalty himself shortly afterwards to keep the points in west London.
Orient: Jack Giddins; Daryl Sydes, Patrick O'Donnell, Chris Robson, Brandon Martin (Joseph Boakye); Harry Baker, Solomon Shields, Matthew Hall (Harry Beautyman), Loick Pires; Adam Marsh (Jake Argent), Adam Bolle
