ORIENT will travel to Port Vale on Saturday looking to overcome a poor historical record at Vale Park.

The O's have only won once in 25 League visits to the Staffordshire club, but surely they will never have a better chance to double that tally than on Saturday.

The Valiants are currently marooned to the foot of the League One table, and victory for the O's on Saturday could consign them to relegation.

Orient's sole victory at Port Vale came way back in November 1956 when goals from Tommy Johnston and Phil White gave the Londoners a 2-1 success.

But that is the only high point on a record that makes miserable reading for O's followers.

Last season's game at Vale Park - Orient's first back as a League One club - ended in a 3-0 loss and Martin Ling's men will certainly be hoping that history doesn't repeat itself.
