Orient's Danielle Flies Flag For England
LEYTON ORIENT'S Girls Centre of Excellence player Danielle Carter scored a brace for the England Women's U17 side last night in their 4-0 victory against the Czech Republic in a UEFA European Women's U17 Championship, 2nd Qualifying Round, Group 1 match in Prague.
15-year-old Danielle scored in the 49th and 60th minutes between Rebecca Jane's third minute opener and Jessica Holbrook's last minute strike to kill off the home team's chances of getting something from the game.
Lois Fidler's side got off to the best possible start in their attempts to qualify for the inaugural UEFA European U17 Women's Championship and following the 1-1 draw in the other Group One game between the Netherlands and Belgium, the young Lions look a strong bet to do well in their group.
Danielle was replaced in the 65th minute by Sarah Wiltshire of Arsenal with the score at 3-0 and the extra rest will be much needed for the tough match against Belgium at AFK Lib?ice tomorrow afternoon (3pm local time kick-off) and the equally taxing match against Holland on Sunday at 11am (local time).
Check www.thefa.com for regular updates on how Danielle does in these matches.
The first UEFA European Women's U17 Championship final tournament will be held in May at the Colovray Stadium in Nyon, Switzerland, opposite the UEFA headquarters with the top three finishers automatically qualifying for the inaugural FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in New Zealand, starting in October.
Everyone at Leyton Orient wishes Danielle and the England team the best of luck in their quest for qualification.
