It's Gray-t To Be Back - Wayne
WAYNE GRAY got his Orient career off to a flyer with two goals on the tour to Ibiza last week.
And he was unfortunate not to grab a winner against West Ham United on Tuesday when his second half strike was ruled out for a marginal offside.
The 26-year-old Londoner only joined the O's from Yeovil Town ten days ago, but he has wasted little time in settling in and the former Brisbane Road loanee is looking forward to a successful season.
"I'm really pleased to be back here at Orient," he said. "It's nice to have the chance to play regular football and there's nothing better than being back at home.
"I enjoyed my time here when I was on loan. Back then I wasn't getting much of an opportunity at Wimbledon and Paul Brush and Martin Ling gave me the chance to show what I could do.
"We won a few big games and I managed to score some goals. The fans were good to me and I just hope I can come back and do well for them again."
Gray is one of eight new arrivals to have made their way to E10 this summer and the Camberwell-born striker believes Orient should be aiming for the play-offs.
He continued: "The gaffer has obviously brought in a lot of players to strengthen the squad this summer and we definitely want to bring success to this club.
"We've got to be looking at the top half of the table and if we can do better than that it would be fantastic.
"From a personal point of view, I've had two promotions and a play-off final in the last three seasons - so I'd like to think of myself as a winner and hopefully I can bring that to the team as well.
"If I can get the games behind me and take my chances, I'm very confident of having another successful season."
Gray was also thrilled to open his O's account with strikes against SD Portmany and CF San Rafael during the club's pre-season tour, and he said the Ibiza trip was beneficial for everyone,
"Ibiza was excellent for us," he added. "It was a great way to get to know the lads and it was perfect timing that I signed just before we flew out.
"I was delighted to get on the scoresheet out there too so hopefully that's a sign of things to come."
