Boyd Happy For Fresh Start
ADAM BOYD is looking forward to the fresh start given to him by a move to east London.
The 25-year-old striker forged a reputation for himself as one of the finest frontmen in the lower leagues with his record at Hartlepool United, but a £500,000 move to Luton Town last summer failed to produce the expected results.
But Boyd is ready to put his Hatters experience behind him and show the Orient fans why he was the most feared man in League One.
He said: "I'm really looking forward to the challenge and am grateful to the manager for giving me the chance to join Orient.
"I did pretty well for Hartlepool at this level and got 29 in one season a couple of years ago, so hopefully I'll be able to reproduce that kind of form here.
"I was a little disappointed last season - a few things didn't work out the way I thought they would, and I'm pleased to have got a fresh start here."
Boyd cited the ambition of the club as one of the major factors in deciding the sign for the O's on a two-year contract, and he firmly believes that Martin Ling's men can look to the play-offs this term.
He continued: "Personally, I'm just looking to play week in, week out and score as many goals as I can. I want to provide as much help to the team as possible, and as a team we have to be looking towards the play-offs.
"The manager has brought some good signings in and he's definitely strengthened the squad from last season, so hopefully we'll make a good start and kick on from there."
"I know what it takes to succeed in League One. I got to the play-offs twice with Hartlepool and made the final once, so hopefully we can go one better here."
The Hartlepool-born hitman is likely to play some part in Martin Ling's testimonial game against West Ham United on Tuesday evening, and he told Orient World that he can't wait for the big kick-off on August 11.
He added: "The West Ham game is a big one and it's an excellent way to start. It's also the manager's testimonial so it should be a great day for him and the lads will be looking forward to testing themselves against Premiership boys.
"It's not long until the league programme starts and I can't wait to get going."
