Swansea City 0 - 0 Leyton Orient
Coca-Cola League One
ORIENT overcame the late dismissal of Adam Chambers to record a vital point on their first visit to Swansea's Liberty Stadium.
The O's were never at their best in South Wales, but they battled away to keep a clean sheet and frustrate a near 13,000 home crowd.
Chances were few and far between, but Swansea created the better of them, and the play-off chasers will be kicking themselves after missing two one-on-ones.
But Orient will be delighted with the point that takes them one step closer to safety.
Orient started well, but they received a major let off in the 13th minute when Ian Craney broke the offside trap to receive Lee Trundle's pass in acres of space. The Swans midfielder had two players free to his left, but the shot was an equally inviting option and he took it on, firing wide of the far post with the goal at his mercy.
Former O's loanee Ezomo Iriekpen had an excellent chance to open the scoring five minutes later, but he nodded over the crossbar after Trundle crossed from the right following a half-cleared corner.
Both sides were guilty of giving away possession too cheaply in a scrappy opening to the match, although Shane Tudor should have made more of a good opportunity to put over a telling low cross when Gary Alexander's quick thinking from a 27th minute free-kick released the winger in the right channel.
Four minutes later Glyn Garner had to scamper across his goal to push Andy Robinson's dangerous free-kick behind, while Pawel Abbott shot straight at the Welsh international stopper
Orient began the second period in a sloppy manner and they should have been punished on 57 when Trundle wrestled his way clear of Matt Lockwood to run onto a ball from deep. Trundle had just Garner to beat, but the O's keeper stood up well to block and save his team.
Orient only threatened sporadically, and it wasn't until Tudor lofted an angled effort over the top after 69 minutes that the visitors forced a serious shot on goal after the break.
The O's were on the back foot and their task was made all the more difficult 13 minutes from time when Adam Chambers saw red for picking up a second yellow card.
Sub Thomas Butler showed the Swans' intent soon after when he drew a good low stop from Garner with an effort from the edge of the box, and then the O's keeper missed the corner, with Miller positioning himself well to block Abbott's effort in the line.
With four minutes to go Trundle used some trademark trickery to get away from Saah, but Garner stood up and blocked the shot at his near post.
O'Leary headed Leon Britton's free-kick a shade too high in the final minute, but the O's held firm to keep hold of a precious point.
