Ling - We Showed Some Real Fight
MARTIN LING was pleased with his Orient side's performance after they stopped a run of five defeats on the trot with a draw against Doncaster.
Wayne Gray headed Orient into a first half lead, and although Mark McCammon's strike meant the points were shared, Ling was satisfied with Orient's application.
"We haven't come away with a win, but we did shade the game against a good team who are third in the league," he said.
"It was an open game, a good game of football, and we showed some real fight and passed the ball with a purpose.
"I think that's probably our best performance in the last ten games, and now we want more of that."
Ling opted to change his system for the visit of Doncaster, employing a 4-3-3 formation and he was happy with how it worked.
He continued: "When we've been successful with 4-4-2, it's worked really well and I tend to stick with what I know.
"But it wasn't working recently and something had to be done about it. We went 4-3-3 and it gave us a chance to look at people playing in that system for next year.
"Today it worked, and it's good to have a plan b for when things aren't going well.
"The system suits Jason Demetriou and Adam Chambers, and I think Demetriou was particularly outstanding. It gave us more cutting edge up front as well."
But having seen his side take the lead, the manager was nevertheless slightly disappointed not to have won the game.
He added: "It is a little disappointing that we didn't take all three points. We're looking at it and thinking that it's better than what it's been recently, but we were the better team and should have won the game.
"What I liked about the performance was once they got the equaliser we still took the game to them. In recent weeks we've crumbled in that kind of situation."
