Ling - We Need A 90 Minute Performance
MARTIN LING has urged his Orient side to get over the disappointment of Tuesday's defeat to Crewe with a positive performance at Luton.
The O's have not suffered successive defeats since October and Ling is confident his side can prolong that run by winning at Kenilworth Road.
He said: "Everyone said before the Crewe and Luton games that on a bit of paper we should be getting six points.
"It didn't go our way on Tuesday night. I've had a good look at the tape and we weren't very good in the first half, but the second half was very good and we just couldn't put the ball in the back of the net.
"So let's not get too down about ourselves, but we do need to bounce back quickly because we let those three points against Crewe disappear."
While Ling was encouraged by the number of chances created, he was disappointed by the first half performance against Crewe and he expects better from his side.
He continued: "The difference between the two halves was too great and we can't allow that to happen. We need 90 minute performances because if you only play in patches of games, it makes things very difficult for you.
"We will be looking for a more complete performance against Luton and we only have to look back to a few weeks ago when we beat them at home.
"That was a good, workmanlike display and three points came from it. That was our last win and we need to get back on the winning trail tomorrow."
Ling was boosted by the return to training of Alton Thelwell and Sean Thornton this week, and only Tamika Mkandawire (hernia) is a definite absentee.
He added: "Both Sean and Alton returned to training on Thursday. I'm not sure that either of them is ready for 90 minutes of football, but they may come back into the squad.
"It was good to see them out there because they are two big players for us and it gives me a fuller squad to choose from.
"The only one we really have missing is Tamika Mkandawire, who will go under the knife for his hernia problem on Monday. He'll be out for about a month."
