CARLISLE UNITED were knocked off the top of the table by Orient on Saturday after they twice saw a lead go to waste at Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Cumbrians looked set for all three points when Simon Hackney (pictured) and Joe Garner scored to give them 1-0 and 2-1 leads.

But Nicky Forster twice hit back to give Brighton a share of the spoils, despite George O'Callaghan's second half red card.

That meant Orient's 1-0 victory over Huddersfield Town was enough to take them back to the summit, while Nottingham Forest also leapfrogged the Brunton Park club into second.

Arron Davies and Sammy Clingan were on target as Colin Calderwood's men beat Crewe Alexandra 2-0.

Swansea City are fourth after a late own goal from Tranmere's Simon Jennings handed them a 1-0 success at Prenton Park.

Rock-bottom Cheltenham Town provided the shock of the weekend, with Steven Gillespie's 86th minute goal giving Leeds United just a second defeat of the season.  Cheltenham, meanwhile, climb to 21st.

Doncaster remain upwardly-mobile, and a convincing 3-1 win at Port Vale takes them into the final play-off berth.  Lewis Guy, James Hayter and Richie Wellens all scored to make George Pilkington's early goal count for nothing.

Steve Tilson's Southend United dropped out of the top six after losing 1-0 at Luton Town.  Calvin Andrew scored the vital goal.

Mark Bradley and Ishmel Demontagnac were on the scoresheet as mid-table Walsall won 2-0 at Northampton Town.

There was plenty of controversy in a firey westcountry derby at Swindon Town, who beat Bristol Rovers thanks to a disputed Christian Roberts penalty.  Referee Rob Styles sent two players off from both sides, with Rovers' Richard Walker and Steve Elliott, and Swindon's Jerel Ifil and Sofiane Zaaboub all seeing red.

Yeovil were defeated 2-1 by Millwall, despite taking the lead through James Walker.  Jamie O'Hara and Ali Fuseini hit back to give the Lions - Orient's next League opponents - the points.

Gillingham, now under the management of Mark Stimson, moved away from the bottom four with a 2-1 win over Hartlepool, while Oldham condemned Bournemouth to their seventh home loss of the season with a 3-0 scoreline in their favour.
