Handball Takes Over Blue Peter
LEYTON Orient Community Sports Programme (LOCSP) coaches and Handball players feature on the long-running children's programme Blue Peter this afternoon on BBC1 at 4.35pm
LOCSP Sports Development Manager Trevor East and Handball Development Officer Miriam Pupalova were joined by four LOCSP and Squirrels players alongside four members of the Great Britain squad to play a game of handball in the studio.
After being shown the basics by the GB and Leyton players, presenters Zoe Salmon and Andy Akinwolere joined in on opposing sides, but a penalty shoot-out was needed to find a winner.
Who was victorious? You'll have to tune in later today to find out!
If you can't watch the live show, it will be available to view on the BBC iPlayer afterwards which is available by CLICKING HERE.
"It was good to see how the programme comes together," explained Trevor. "We all watched it growing up so it was great to meet the presenters.Miriam gave the presenters tips with Andy particularly wanting to learn a lot about it as he wanted to get it right, to ensure he beat Zoe.
"Our player Anish was interviewed and explained how he got involved through the Sports Programme and how he was trained really hard by Miriam with the aim to play at the highest level.
"It is really good exposure for the game and it was a great experience for everyone involved."
And yes, everyone involved got their hands on one of those famous badges.
